Aromatic and Visual Profile:

Having had the opportunity to try out the Green Apple flavor, I can attest that it tastes just like the soda, with no weedy taste or aftertaste—just straight soda goodness. As with all Jones’ sodas, visually it comes in a cornucopia of colors, with the satisfying fizz of a properly carbonated drink. I find it also lacks some of the perfumy flavor that some brands use to mask the taste of the weed; Jones does not have that in the slightest. If you gave it to someone without telling them it’s infused, I bet they couldn’t even tell the difference!

Effects:

While I cannot personally attest to what the effects are like, as my tolerance is too high for 10mg of THC to affect me, like most ingestibles, it could potentially take at least an hour for the effects to kick in. But once they do, you should feel a full-body buzz that most edibles provide.

How much does it cost?

At $7.95 a can, it isn’t going to break the bank. Comparatively, a can of XMG is $6.95, so it falls within the acceptable range when it comes to the cost of a can. Personally, I would pay the extra dollar to get the Jones’ soda to avoid that perfumy smell and taste that other brands might use to mask the flavor and smell. There’s no option to buy a multipack, so it can get expensive if your tolerance is high. But if you enjoy edibles on a regular basis and get good effects from them, then this is a treat you do not want to pass up.

Variety Is the Spice of Life –  A Review of the Cookies 4 Cultivar Flower Pack

People always say that variety is the spice of life. Well, variety is the name of the game with the Cookies 4 cultivar flower pack! The Cookies brand originated in the US, launched by rapper and entrepreneur Berner in the early 2000s, but it really gained popularity in the 2010s. Their first dispensary opened in 2018 in LA. Honestly, when the brand first came to Canada, in my opinion, it was quite disastrous. The grower was Pure Sunfarms, and let’s just say the product was underwhelming and overpriced — not exactly how you want to debut in a brand-new market in a new country. However, it seems that the bigwigs at Cookies heard the complaints and switched growers to Final Bell. So, does this product live up to the lofty expectations that the brand Cookies brings to the table? Read on and find out!

What Makes It Special?

Variety ounces are few and far between in the legal market right now, but Cookies has stepped up to the plate with its own offering. While this specific product is relatively new at the time of writing, the different strains in the package could change down the road. In this bag, we have Cheetah Piss, Cake Mix, Madrina, and Laughing Gas. Based on the dominant terpenes listed on the back, two of these could be considered sativas (Laughing Gas [Sour Diesel x Cherry Pie] and Madrina [Last OG x Apples and Bananas]), and two could be indicas (Cake Mix [London Pound Cake x Wedding Cake] & Cheetah P [Lemonade x Gelato 42 x London Pound Cake 97]). But it takes more than just throwing four cultivars in a bag and calling it a day; they’ve really stepped up their quality game compared to the old Canadian Cookies product.

Aromatic and Visual Profile:

The first thing you’ll notice when you open the bag is the strong odor. My bags (bought twice now) were both quite pungent upon opening—a good sign when you spend a decent amount of money on weed. All four cultivars looked really nice, with plenty of trichomes covering the buds. Madrina is especially striking with a lot of purple mixed with green. The buds were all nicely moist, although Cake Mix was a little dry, but that’s nothing a humidity pack can’t fix. In terms of aroma, Cheetah P definitely stands out as the most uniquely scented—funky and potent.

Effects:

The effects of the four cultivars will obviously vary depending on the dominant terpenes present in the cannabis. As mentioned earlier, Madrina and Laughing Gas are both uplifting and energetic strains with a high amount of limonene, a terpene generally found in traditional sativa strains. Meanwhile, Cheetah P and Cake Mix are high in caryophyllene, which is known for its relaxing effects.

How Much Does It Cost?

$150.10 for an ounce is definitely within a reasonable range for weed. Budget ounces usually start at around $100, so paying an extra $50 for four unique cultivars that are well-grown is quite special, in my opinion. As someone who likes to purchase their cannabis in bulk, this product appeals to me, simply for the fact that I can switch between the four strains whenever I want, and I’m getting my money’s worth in weight. My benchmark for whether something on the market is expensive is whether or not it crosses the $10/g threshold. That’s my defining line; yours might be different depending on various factors, but to me, $10/g is pricey for a premium product. While this bag certainly offers premium quality, they are not charging premium prices for it, which is why, at least to me, it is a great value for bulk buyers or for someone who likes to switch between strains a lot and would rather not pay $50 for a half-quarter to get some variety of premium bud. Good job, Cookies! You’ve certainly done a 180 since you first entered the Canadian market.

Galactic Rntz Strain Review

Hey! Today we are reviewing a product from the good people at Tribal from Saint-Laurent, Quebec, whose products include Gelato Mint, the ever popular Cuban Linx and Terple. But today we are reviewing their wonderful take on the Rntz strain with Galactic Rntz. So grab your astronaut pants, as we are about to blast off with this great product.

What makes it special?

The lineage of this flower (Falcon 9x Runtz) gives it a sweet candy but gassy aroma when you first open the airtight tuna can. This beautiful bud has light and dark green hues mixed with speckles of purple here and there, making for a truly sensory experience just from opening the can! Some effects you’ll experience are relaxing and euphoric with a slight uplifting feeling, a unique trio experience because of the limonene, caryophyllene and linalool.

Terpene Profile:

Linalool–known to be relaxing in its effects, occurs naturally in many things, including lavender and lots of perfumed personal hygiene products. Known to reduce stress, anxiety and have pain-relieving effects as well. Usually a minor terpene, the higher levels of linalool in this strain can give it more sedative effects compared to other strains.

Caryophyllene – the only terpene that also acts as a cannabinoid, found primarily in hops, cloves, black pepper and, amongst other things. It may be anti-inflammatory and have stress relieving properties. Strains of cannabis that contain higher amounts of caryophyllene include Gorilla Glue, Cookies and Cream, OG Kush, Sour Diesel and Candyland.

Limonene – takes its name from the Italian lemon (limone). It is a major component that gives citrus fruits peels their smell and taste. Limonene can also have its uses as a solvent in industrial applications as an adhesive remover as well as infused filament 3D printing! It imparts an uplifting feeling, which you can find in many sativa leaning cannabis strains.

How much does it cost?

$29.95, compared to other Rntz strains on the market, this is on the lower side of the scale. It certainly does not mean it lacks in quality! The value this bud provides is fantastic. At under $10/gram, it offers high-quality cannabis at an affordable price for those looking for a deal or just those who are looking for a unique product without breaking the bank.

Rating: 8.5/10

This wonderful flower is worth every cent! From the airtight tuna can to seal in freshness and those wonderful terpenes, to the cure efforts made by the team at Tribal, they have truly released a remarkable product for this price. Wonderful cannabis that gives you this quality and saves you a few dollars here and there is a win in my books. I hope you get to try this out soon for yourself!

Hey! Today the product we are focusing on is Fresh Frozen Hash Rosin by our friends at Nugz!

What makes it special?

The fresh frozen part means that the plant matter was not cured and was frozen, sieving the flower through 159-45 micrometer wash bags to create this wonderful product we have before us today. Just by looking at the packaging, you know Nugz pays attention to the little details as a lot of important information is already available on the package. The packaging lists the strain (Terple), total terpenes, THC and CBD content, the temperature at which it was pressed, the micron size of the bags used, and the package date. That is a lot of info!

Terpene Profile:

Farnesene – 1.7% – known for its calming and sedative effects as well as some anti-inflammatory properties. Found mainly in hops, ginger, and sandalwood.

Caryophyllene – 1.7% – known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is unique in that it provides those benefits without the euphoric feeling usually associated with cannabis.

Limonene – 1.3% – mainly found in citrus peel, there are many potential health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

How much does it cost?

$49.95. One of the best value-for-dollar concentrates products on the market right now.

Rating: 9/10

The quality of the rosin, the packaging, and the information presented on the packaging are all wonderful. Rosins can be a pricier option than resins, but with this Nugz product, you are getting a lot of bang for your buck. I would highly recommend it. Welcome back guys, to another instalment of our quick reviews here at Jane’s Cannabis! Today we have one of my favourite products in the legal market. It disappeared for a while, but now it’s back as a limited release. Its Gas Berries #112 from the good people at Ogen Cannabis!

What makes it special?

That beautiful smell! One of the unique aromas in the legal market, this beautiful bud makes its presence known with its beautiful bouquet of, legit, berries and gas! One of the few products where I smell the product every time I open the container because I cannot get enough of it. With light and airy buds, sticky with trichomes, it busts up nicely in your grinder. Coming in at 24% THC, it’s no slouch when it comes to that department. A heavy indica with strong euphoric effects, this bud is in a league of its own.

Terpene Profile:

The total terpene percentage on this batch comes in at 4.78%.

Beta-Myrcene – 1.64% – plays a big role in the entourage effect of this bud. B-myrcene acts upon the CB-2 receptors, just like CBD does, creating a mild sedative effect when working with THC. It can be found in many food products, such as mangos, lemongrass and bay leaves.

Alpha-Pinene – 1.24% – as you can guess from the name of the terpene, a-pinene can be found in trees (pine and coniferous) as well as rosemary. As a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory, its medical properties cannot be denied. Certain studies have also attributed a-pinene as a compound that can fight the onset of Alzheimer’s. While there are not that many studies, hopefully with legalization, research on cannabis and its associated terpenes will be expanded on.

How much does it cost?

$69.99. Ogen has a product here that is unique in its aroma and properties. They currently offer it in 7g jars, so coming in at $10/g, it is definitely on the pricier side of the legal market, with so many options out there. But I can definitively say that you will not find another product that is similar to what this bud offers. (I’ve tried) From the beautiful bouquet of berries to the underlying notes of gas, this potent bud is worth it if you are willing to treat yourself to good cannabis once in a while,

Rating: 8.5/10

I was considering giving this an 8/10 because of the price, but in my opinion, the higher price is justified by the quality of the product. Whether treating yourself to something special or it’s your daily go to, it truly is one of a kind in the legal market. From the sticky trichomes, the potency and, once again, the wonderful smell, it is not something you will find in abundance in a market saturated with many strains that are similar to each other. For a truly unique experience, pick up Gas Berries #112, which, as far as we know, is a limited release. Let’s hope that’s not the case. Thank you, Ogen, for bringing this wonderful product back to the market, and I sincerely hope you do not put this back in the vault!

Welcome back guys, to another instalment of our quick reviews here at Jane’s Cannabis! Today we have a review of what the OCS calls edible extracts. It’s the Pineapple Coconut and Pomegranate Berry Glitches by Drift!

What makes it special?

We’ve finally got around to reviewing an edible here! What took us so long? Well, most edibles on the market are limited by rules and regulations to be only 10mg per PACKAGE. As a high tolerance user, I wanted to wait till these edible extracts hit the market to really review an edible, as 10mg per package for me doesn’t really affect me in the way that I want. What makes these different is that they are 10mg per piece of gummy in the package! Therefore, they are much more potent than their counterparts that were originally sold at the beginning of legalisation.

Taste and Texture:

Both varieties of the glitches offer something similar to its namesake. While not the most overpowering of flavours, there is not a lot of weed taste to the gummies, which is nice. This allows the gummies to impart their flavours without having to overpower any undesirable weed flavours. The gummies themselves are firm and are just like any regular old gummy you can find at the grocery store.

How much does it cost?

$15.95 for the Pomegranate Berry glitches, as they are 10 to a pack.  $8.95 for the Pineapple Coconut glitches, as they are 5 to a pack. As someone who has a fairly high tolerance, I find these to be a tremendous value for regular or every day users. You won’t be breaking the bank purchasing these as they offer a good amount of THC for the money that you are paying. For beginners or people who are not everyday users, regular edibles (not edible extracts) should be more than enough. These are aimed at people who find other edibles to not be potent enough.

Rating: 9.5/10

These get a really high rating because of the value they offer people who have a high tolerance like myself. The gummies themselves are not offensive in taste, as I found they hid the weed flavour well, while adding the fruit flavours they want to make it a pleasant experience. As previously stated, the reason these get such a high rating is that experience they offer high tolerance users. For example, I ingested 4 gummies and definitely was pretty medicated for 2-3 hours. I find it is a good way to augment your daily smoking routine if you’re getting kind of bored with smoking or vaping every day, as ingestion offers a distinct feeling compared to smoking or vaping.

Conclusion

These are a wonderful new product that is on the market that offers high tolerance users another avenue to explore their favourite way to relax. Incredible value for the money compared to other edibles on the market, I highly recommend them to anyone looking for higher THC content in their edible repertoire or for people who are feeling underwhelmed by other edibles on the market. This is the product for you!
