Situated in Oro-Medonte, they truly are our neighbors to the north, and they always have something special cooking up there. They are among the few who truly define craft cannabis in Ontario.

What makes it special?

Marketed under the Rares label in Ontario, this is a special collaboration between Carmel and Northern Canna. And what makes it so special, you ask? Well, one of the masterminds behind Carmel, Drew, is working with his long-time collaborator Genetic Mike (known for his Platinum Punch Remix) again for this lovely grow. From breeder Elev8 Genetics and grown by Mike at Northern Canna, it’s a cross between GMO x Cereal Milk, and it’s not called Rares for no reason.

Aromatic and Visual Profile:

With bright green, tight buds with tons of trichomes, and medium to large buds in the bags, this is a winner all the way through. To be honest, though, you can expect nothing less from Carmel. With Limonene, Myrcene, and Farnesene as the dominant terpenes, this bud offers your nose notes of sour and gas with hints of sweetness. It truly is a treat for all your senses. When breaking it up, it comes out nice and fluffy and rolls smoothly with beautiful white ash.

Effects:

For me, Golden Crisp is a nice, bright head high that brings feelings of euphoria to the forefront of the experience. If you’ve got something to do, this is one strain that does not couch-lock you. Instead, it really gets your creativity flowing while maintaining a nice buzz throughout.

How much does it cost?

When the bag says Carmel and Rares, you know it’s a special experience, but special experiences do not come cheap. Costing $49.30 at Jane’s, it certainly is on the higher end of the price spectrum. But, as I mentioned earlier, that Carmel logo is a badge of quality, and the experience will be limited because once this drop is gone, it’s gone for good. So how about that for FOMO? As of this writing, Rares is already rotating to Genetic Mike’s Platinum Punch Remix. So, if you feel like you need to try that Golden Crisp goodness, I would say grab it while it lasts. Now I don’t know about you, but I love those classic OG strains that leaves your palette stained with something along the lines of petrol gas. The good thing for all of you sweet terpene lovers, this will appease your palette as well.  This batch is setting at 25.4 percent total THC as well as 3.16% total terpenes and 0% CBD. The lot number is CW23TPK0012DF. Pink Kush is crossed with OG Kush, but the other parent/parent’s genetics are shrouded with mystic and remain unknown.

Quality:

The overall quality of the buds is standard for craft cannabis buds. The buds are dense, sticky and are dark green with bright orange hairs. You will notice that the bud is covered in trichomes, and these buds are beautiful in pictures if you are the type to look for bag appeal. There are minimal leaves, stems in the bud as well as no seeds.

Smell:

If you love any sweet, fruity, or candy smells. This is the bud for you. You are hit with a strong candy with a mild gas smell. It has a faint tartness to it that rounds off the smell nicely. Even in a small quantity, once you open the bag or jar that you have it in, you are instantly hit with the smell which you’ll never get sick of. Pink Kush has a distinct smell that you will remember anytime someone cracks open a jar. This is up there for me for overall smell in terms of OG Kush strains.

Taste:

The flavour is exceptional if you fancy sweet terpenes. On the inhale you are hit with candy followed by a mild sweet gas on the exhale. This is one of those strains that you can still taste on your tongue hours after smoking. I smoked this bud through a bong as well as a joint. In a joint the smoke was smooth, and I was greeted with white ash. The candy flavour was more prominent on the inhale but when I smoked it through the bong, I noticed that the sweet gassy flavour was more prominent on the exhale. Overall, it was a very flavourful experience with the terps sitting up high.

High/Experience:

Experience is definitely the category to judge this bud in because wow, what a great smoking experience this was. The smoke was smooth in the joint or bong and it didn’t make me cough at all. The overall high was felt instantly with a slight head buzz accompanied by a strong body buzz that seems to relax muscles. I also noticed that my legs felt heavy, and this strain is particularly heavy on the eyelids. This strain is great for stress and anxiety relief. I instantly felt like I was in a better state of mind and was able to still get things done around the house. At the end of the high it does make you somewhat tired so I would say this is more of a nighttime smoke, but you can get away with smoking it during the day for sure if you are keeping busy.

Final Verdict:

WOW, is all I have to say. Overall, this brings me back to the old days where OG strains were more popular and reminds me why OG strains are some of my favourite strains. Pink Kush is one of those strains that will leave you coming back for more. No matter how many new genetics they release, from time to time I find myself coming back to the classic strains that made me fall in love with cannabis in the first place. This is one strain that will always be in my rotation and every time I smoke it, I remember why I love it so much. If you haven’t tried CanWe’s TF Pink Kush, then you should definitely pick it up. It is some of the best Pink Kush that I have personally tried in the market and the benefits of this strain are second to none. Pink Kush is one of those relaxing strains that you can smoke and still get stuff done but be relaxed and worry free. If you are someone who suffers from racing thoughts at night, this is the strain to smoke. Pink kush seems to ease stress and overall brightens your mood. Welcome! Thank you for reading another instalment of our quick reviews. Today we’ll be reviewing Rosin Head’s hash rosin drops. They certainly occupy a unique place in our retail landscape. Let’s take a look and see what makes it such a stand out in a sea of products on the legal market.

What makes it special?

Have you ever wanted to just shove a bunch of chocolate chips into your mouth for the heck of it? Well, with Rosin Heads hash rosin drops, you can! And they pack a punch! Here’s how they describe their process: “Hash Rosin is produced by harvesting cannabis plants at peak resin maturity, separating the resin from the plant material, then applying heat and pressure through filtration to extract the active compounds. Once pressed, the rosin goes through a proprietary vacuum decarboxylation process ensuring no terpenes are lost or oxidized in the process.” So, from plant matter comes these little drops of THC goodness. What makes these guys special is that it’s rosin and not distillate that is being used. That means all the terpenes and cannabinoids will remain throughout the extraction process and be fully present in the product you are ingesting. Great stuff!

Aromatic and Visual Profile:

Well, they look like little white chocolate chips. To be honest, there’s not much in terms of aromatic and visual appeal. But there are only 2 ingredients on the list and that’s cocoa butter and hash rosin. Ingesting them is kind of weird, as you’re basically just shoving a bunch of butter in your mouth. So, you can either chew them or just take them with water, either way works just as well. Simplicity is sometimes best. They just need to work as advertised, and they definitely do that!

Effects:

This part will definitely depend on how many of these little chips you eat. I tend to be a heavy consumer of cannabis on a regular basis. So, with each of these chips being 5mg of THC, you know the exact dosing you are getting. I usually take 10 of these little guys, so that gives me 50mg of THC, which gives me a good euphoric high for at least a couple of hours. But that’s the best part with this product you can take as little or as many as you want. But as with all THC products, it’s always best to start low and slow, and go up from there until you find the proper dosage that’s right for you.

Value:

The value that is presented with this product is great. 50 drops in a package goes a long way. Depending on your dosage and your tolerance, you’ll get varying value depending on the user, but even as someone who ingests 10 at a time to get any effects, I feel at 50 drops for $27.95 is a great deal. I can still get 5 really good sessions out of $27.95 worth of product, which is a pretty darn good price point.

This product definitely occupies an interesting space in the legal cannabis arena. There’s nothing visually or taste-wise that will compel people to purchase them, but if you’re looking for a no-nonsense way of having some edibles, this is the product for you. No sugars or any colouring agents. Just cocoa butter and hash rosin. Highly recommended.
